Spreading Holiday Cheer with the 14th Annual Cookie Party

The 14th Annual Cookie Party went off without a hitch on December 6th, providing an opportunity for community members, Geraldine’s Counter, and the Rainier Valley Food Bank to get together and celebrate the holiday season.

Old traditions, like feasting on delicious mac and cheese from Geraldine’s Counter were nourished while new traditions began. The night kicked off with an opportunity to pick up dinner and cookie decorating kits at Geraldine’s Counter before attendees joined us online for the digital event.  A virtual cookie show-and-tell and a raffle filled with locally sourced prizes provided delightful entertainment for all. Excitement spread throughout the Zoom room as our Executive Director shared a sneak peek inside our new facility. With each Cookie Party, we are thankful for all the new and familiar faces we’ve grown accustomed to seeing each holiday season.

The spirit of giving this holiday season is alive and well in our community, or so it seems based on the nearly $21,000 raised so far during this year’s Cookie Party! We have both our sponsors and our event attendees to thank for the success of this event including Geraldine’s CounterWaFd BankChickadee Bakeshop, and Kohl Construction. From longstanding partnerships to the generous sponsorships from our local supporters, our organization’s work is a representation of the support our community continues to pour into our mission year after year.

While the Cookie Party may be over, the staff at Geraldine’s Counter continues to fundraise for us through the end of the year. We encourage you to stop by their adorable restaurant for some delicious food and to support the incredible work that their staff does for us. Get there early though – the brunch waits can be long!

We wish to share special recognition of our relationship with WaFd Bank throughout this year. From their connecting us to the Kraken earlier this year to generously sponsoring our Cookie Party, WaFd Bank has been an avid supporter of the mission of Rainier Valley Food Bank. We look forward to continuing our relationship next year and beyond!

To those who attended this year, others who have joined us in years past, and those who have not yet had a chance to participate, we hope to see you at our 15th annual Cookie Party next year. In the meantime, we wish everyone a safe and healthy holiday season, and as always, a thank you to our sponsors and participants who are a huge part of making this event a shining success every year.
